(WTOC) - A new exhibit at the Morris Center for Lowcountry Heritage visualizes the transformation of a local island. âSeasons of Daufuskieâ showcases photographs of the Gullah sea island taken from 1977 through 1982 by photographer Jeanne Moutousammy-Ashe. Kayleigh Vaughn, Director of Educations and Programs at the Morris Center, says at the time Daufuskie remained largely secluded. âA lot of the native islanders had left the island to find work, but this was also before Daufuskie became the island that we know of today,â Vaughn said. âSo these images are really capturing an era of time that was just on this edge of, like, transformation.â ....

They wanted to share them with those who were less fortunate. Skylar, 10, and Samantha, 7, helped prepare dozens of sugar cookies in their Tillman home with their mom Kimberly Roland before Christmas. “I have very fond memories of decorating Christmas cookies with my mom and sister growing up, so I am carrying on the tradition with my family,” Roland said. “I recently joined some local Facebook pages to see how we could help with the needs of others in our area.” ....
