BLM, Mohave County Sheriff's Office work together to resolve vandalism

BLM, Mohave County Sheriff’s Office work together to resolve vandalism
Law Enforcement seeks the public’s help in locating responsible party.
ST. GEORGE, Utah The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Law Enforcement and Mohave County Sheriff’s Office are seeking information regarding those responsible for the vandalism of a grazing allotment boundary fence on the Arizona Strip near Colorado City, AZ. The boundary fence, located within Short Creek Wash, was damaged and the corner bracing pushed over. The fence, which took the rancher 5 days to complete was vandalized the day after completion. The fence allows for livestock management within the allotment and neighboring allotments. Damage to these types of improvements results in the loss of livestock, monetary damages, and countless hours invested in repair and searching for loose livestock. We appreciate the public’s assistance in helping resolve this case of vandalism.  ....

A vast prospective and underexplored jurisdiction
Although large scale mines such as the Teck Resources Red Dog zinc mine, Hecla Mining’s Green’s Creek Mine, Coeur Mining’s Kensington gold mine, Northern Star’s Pogo and Kinross Gold’s Fort Knox all operate year round, the Arctic climate still provides formidable challenges to the smaller operator. The short summer exploration season means that much of the state remains underexplored.
Nonetheless, the state still hosts over 4,440 documented gold prospects, and over 2,700 documented non-gold occurrences, including some of the world’s largest deposits. Today, over 200 million ounces of gold has been delineated, in 20 of 61 placer districts. ....

Sears is Chamber's Businesswoman of the Year

Kathy Price Sears comes by it honestly.
My mother was always a leader in business, said Sears, the 2020 Woman in Business Award recipient as given by the Somerset-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce. She managed Somerset Lodge for about 20 years. She s the kind that thinks fast on her feet, a very hard worker, very consistent. If she did something one way, she s going to do it that way from now on.
Sears values the lessons she learned from her mother in dependability and work ethic, but has also found her own identity — more flexible, perhaps, when another way might have been more rigid. It s her business acumen and ability to work with other people that has made her such a local success, leading to the award she was recently presented with as part of the 2021 Somerset-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce Virtual Banquet.
