SHELBY CO., Tenn. (WMC) - Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris announced Wednesday a $2.5 million economic relief plan to help local restaurant workers.
âThe ball is in our court and action has to happen among those of us who are in this room virtually speaking,â said Harris.
During a Shelby County Commission Committee hearing, the Harris team introduced âShare the Tab IIâ a plan which would offer a $1,000 relief benefit for restaurant workers financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. ....

A $50 fine was approved Monday for owners of businesses that violate Shelby County s health and mask directives.
The ordinance, which was approved by the Shelby County Commission, does not apply to individual members of the public who violate the directives.
Supporters of the measure stressed that the goal was to avoid business shutdowns, saying the majority of businesses are acting in accordance with health guidelines.
