SOUTH BEND – A developer’s request to build a condominium complex with a rooftop bar overlooking Notre Dame s campus, and to be marketed to alumni, has been denied because the structure would have exceeded the city s building height limit.
But city officials indicated such projects could be allowed in the future because they’re increasingly receiving requests from developers for buildings taller than the city’s three-story limit.
The board on Monday, in a 3-2 vote, turned down the plan for five-story condos at the site of the former Mulligan s Bar and Grill, near the busy South Bend Avenue/Angela Boulevard/Edison Road intersection.
