How many Standard Hotels can Fitzroy handle? Developer DealCorp has struck a deal with international accommodation chain, The Standard Hotel, for a site in the heart of Fitzroy.
The 1132 sq m site is at 62 Rose Street, on the corner of Fitzroy Street, where, walking south past Johnston Street, you can also find one of the suburb’s best pubs, the Standard Hotel, which has been in situ since 1865.

An artfully designed, decorative candle can provide more than a source of ambient lighting it can create visual interest in a tablescape, too. A candle is the perfect object to be a centerpiece on the table, says designer and wax artist Lex Pott. Thought candles are small, the right one can really brighten up any area of your home. They give off cozy and intimate light and help create good memories, Pott adds.
Of course, the more interesting a candle looks, the greater impact it makes in a space. Derek Chauvin’s conviction on murder charges in the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd was rare, both in terms of the outcome of the trial and what led up to the verdict.
There have been countless cases over the years of law enforcement killing people on camera, and a vast majority of officers have walked away scot-free, despite the very visible blood on their hands. The difference in this case, however, was that the prosecution presented plenty of testimony from law enforcement officials, including Chauvin’s former police colleagues. ....

Philadelphia man charged in 2012 gunshot slaying in Norristown


NORRISTOWN — A Philadelphia man wanted for his alleged role in the Christmas Day 2012 gunshot slaying of a Norristown man was apprehended in the borough on Thursday after a pursuit during which he is accused of trying to strike a detective with a vehicle.
Rasheed Abdul Farrelle, 36, of the 4700 block of Penn Street, was arraigned via video before District Court Judge Scott Palladino on charges of first- and third-degree murder, conspiracy and person not to possess a firearm in connection with the alleged Dec. 25, 2012, fatal shooting of Paul Brown.
Prosecutors said Farrelle also was charged with aggravated and simple assault and recklessly endangering another person in connection with his alleged assault of a detective during Thursday’s pursuit. ....
