Something that distinguishes at least one suspected Gov. Gretchen Whitmer kidnap plotter from his 13 codefendants: he backed out.
Before that happened, Brian P. Higgins of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, first drove other defendants during a night-time surveillance mission at Whitmer’s vacation home in Elk Rapids, Michigan prosecutors say. During that mission, Higgins is accused of supplying a night-vision scope and dash-cam that recorded footage from Whitmer’s neighborhood.

Garbin, 25, faces decades in prison – tagged as an informant – for his role in a bizarre plot to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
He pleaded guilty Wednesday, Jan. 27, to kidnap conspiracy before U.S. District Robert Jonker in Grand Rapids.
There was talk of putting Whitmer on trial, leaving her in the middle of Lake Michigan in a disabled boat. They considered blowing up a bridge by her house to slow police response – and engaging in firefights with police.

Ty Garbin pleads guilty to kidnapping conspiracy

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A Hartland man admitted in federal court Wednesday to training and preparing other in the domestic terrorism plot to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
Ty Gerard Garbin, 24, of Hartland, agreed to plead guilty to an indictment that charges him with kidnapping conspiracy. In return, Garbin has agreed to cooperate with officials as they continue investigating the case.
Garbin, an airline mechanic from Hartand is the first person to plead guilty in the domestic terrorism plot against Whitmer.

Part of Ty Garbin’s plea deal with federal prosecutors includes cooperating with their investigation. And some of the details Garbin shared with investigators came out in court documents. We learned Garbin owned the property near Luther for the group to train on, and that he suggested the group wait to carry out the plot until after the November election and use expected civil unrest to their advantage.
