AN award-winning Bolton project has secured new funding. A scheme led by the Peak Connections Group, which has worked with over 70 people with long term and enduring mental health issues, has received a £5,000 grant from the national Assura Community Fund to help the project continue through 2021. The fund was created to support health-improving work by charities and local groups in the communities around Assura’s GP surgery, primary care and treatment centre buildings around the country. The company looks after Crompton Health Centre in Bolton. Jonathan Murphy, CEO of Assura said: “We were blown away by the number and quality of applications from all over the country. ....

VACCINATION centres in all areas of Bolton are set to be in place by January 11 and 2,000 people have now had their first injections as the massive drive to protect the population from covid accelerates. An update from health leaders in the borough revealed that during the first 10 days of the vaccination programme, 2,000 mainly over-80s have been injected with their first dose at centres in Tonge Moor and Lever Chambers in the town centre. Medics will also be working over the holiday period and are planning to visit one care home in Bolton next week, to vaccinate all residents and staff. ....
