The Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Chris van der Kuyl and Miss Rachael Palmer as non-executive Directors of the Company with effect from 1 June 2021.
Chris van der Kuyl is one of Scotland s leading entrepreneurs working across the technology, media, gaming and entertainment sectors. Chris is most notably co-Founder and Chairman of multiple award-winning games developer 4J Studios, best known for developing Minecraft for Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo games consoles. He and fellow co-Founder Paddy Burns launched Chroma Ventures, the investment arm of 4J Studios, in 2021.
Chris is also Chairman of Puny Astronaut, TVSquared, Broker Insights, Stormcloud Games and Parsley Box Plc and sits on the boards of Blippar, Ace Aquatec, and ADV Holdings. A DUNDEE startup hopes to expand into the US after strong growth in its second year of trading. Broker Insights, an insurance technology company founded in 2018 by two former Aviva executives, said its revenues had doubled to £2.25 million in the year to 31 January 2021. The company, which is backed by Scottish games entrepreneurs Chris van der Kuyl and Paddy Burns, said its platform had also doubled gross written premiums, the insurance industry yardstick, to £1 billion. Founders Fraser Edmond and Iain Crole describe Broker Insights as the first commercial insurance platform that uses market data and analytics to connect major insurers with business opportunities held by regional brokers.
Dundee-based tech firm has sights set on American expansion
A Dundee tech firm whose platform connects insurers and brokers is eyeing expansion into America.
That is the aim of Broker Insights, founded by former Aviva executives Fraser Edmond and Iain Crole in 2018.
Seven insurers – Zurich, AXA, Hiscox, Markel, Ecclesiastical, QBE and RSA – are signed up, along with more than 150 brokers.
The company’s revenue doubled to £2.25 million this year, while its gross written premiums also doubled to £1 billion.
The platform, which won £75,000 at the Scottish EDGE awards in 2018, connects leading insurers with over 150 brokers who hold £1 billion of business policies across the UK.
