It all comes to the fore with the much-loved Standon Calling Dog Show on the Sunday afternoon of the festival. Prizes up for grabs include ‘Dog with the Waggiest Tail’ and ‘Looks Most Like Owner’.

Noochy Poochy is the first offer from startup McKinna Plant Labs
Petcare’s burgeoning meat-free trend has been joined by Noochy Poochy – a sustainable brand that claims to offer the highest protein content of any vegetarian dogfood in the UK.
Its name comes from its use of nutritional yeast, also known as nooch. The ingredient gave Noochy Poochy’s “nutritionally complete” dry food “an irresistible cheesy flavour” the brand said.
The kibbles contained “everything needed for a healthy dog” it added. “By combining a number of different plant proteins, the food is able to achieve a 28% protein content – not only the highest of any vegetarian dogfood on the UK market but also higher than most meat-based dogfoods.”

The dog-loving humans at Barking Heads have created a new Plant-Powered Pooches recipe…and it’s set to get tails wagging.
Barking Heads’ small, dog-obsessed team found out that one in five of its dog owners already add fresh or cooked vegetables to their dog’s dinners. So, they worked closely with dog nutrition experts to formulate a more complete way to do this (they like to make life easier for the humans), with added vitamins and minerals and the right amount of protein for happy, healthy dogs.
TV Vet and Barking Heads resident expert, Dr Scott Miller, says: “Of course, dogs love meat! But we know veg is an awesome source of power and nutrients for all of us, including our pooches. Dogs are naturally omnivores which means they have always eaten both meat and vegetables to provide the vital nutrition they need.”
