Srinagar, July 9: The Government has ordered a probe into all illegal appointments and regularisations made in the Local Bodies of Kashmir valley during the last two decades.
A committee of officers headed by Director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir, Mathoora Masoom, has been constituted to inquire into all illegal appointments made in the Municipal Councils and Committees of Kashmir valley since 2001.
The committee comprises Showkat Ahmad Mir, Special Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department and Alyaz Ahmad Naisroo, Secretary, Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA). ....

Srinagar: The death toll across Jammu and Kashmir from the past three days touched to 91 as on Friday three more persons including a woman lost their lives due to flood furry. At least 14 persons were trapped while four of them died when a landslide hit Thanamandi town in Rajouri district of Jammu province on Friday, Four persons One person died in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district when he came under an electric poll, uprooted due to flash floods. Another person died of heart attacking after he observed gushing waters making entry into his village in Tangmarg area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Two people drowned when strong water currents washed away a bridge at Brazlu in Kulgam district. Three people were washed away when they were crossing Nallah Sukhnag in Khansahab area of Budgam district. ....

COVID-19: Nine More Die In Kashmir, Toll Reaches 2,206 In J&K


SRINAGAR: Nine more patients who had tested positive for Coronavirus died in the last 24 hours, taking fatalities count in Jammu and Kashmir to 2,207.
An official told that nine patients who died include 75-year-old man from Badamwari, 76-year-old man from Zakura, 58-year-old woman from Balgarden, 60-year-old woman from Chanapora, 75-year-old woman from Nowshera, 56-year-old man from Baghat area of Srinagar district, 65-year-old from Kunzar, 70-year-old man from Baramulla and 82-year-old woman from Kishtwar.
An official said that 75-year-old man from Badamwari, 76-year-old man from Zakura Srinagar, 65-year-old from Kunzar, 70-year-old man from Baramulla died at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute Of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura and 60-year-old woman from Chanapora died at JVC Hospital Bemina. ....

SRINAGAR, Apr 24: Police today arrested three persons who allegedly decamped with cash from a Jammu and Kashmir Bank Branch in Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district two days ago.
Police said they are involved in three other robberies this year in the Valley and killing of a former SPO earlier this month.
They have been identified as Nisar Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat of Singhpora Pattan, Rahil Ahmad Parray son of Bashir Ahmad Parray of Kanihama Magam and Arif Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir of Mazhama. ....
