Meet the heroes who helped make this Christmas merry

Premium Content Subscriber only We are all familiar with that romantic, ‘Peace on Earth’ Christmas fantasy depicted in Hollywood movies, where families stroll snow-lined streets without a care in the world, and everyone is smiling and happy, and looking forward to unwrapping all those presents under the tree. Unfortunately, we know the real world is not like that, and not least for the lack of snow. It has been a tough year for everybody, and for those families who were already struggling, events of 2020 may well have tipped them over the edge. Enniskillen Model School children complete Christmas donation

The kind-hearted children in the Model School, Enniskillen are supporting the Enniskillen Salvation Army Family Appeal this Christmas. The aim of the appeal is to ensure that no child will go without a present on Christmas Day in Fermanagh this year. It may have been cold and frosty outside but that did not deter The Primary Five children from the Model as they set off on their act of goodwill for the community. The children walked to the Salvation Army in Halls Lane on Friday to deliver all of the lovely gifts that had been donated by the school community.

Our Adopt a Family Appeal is down to the last four families, which is great considering we started off with 80 families only a few weeks ago, and the feedback from local charities is that the amount of support out there is as high as ever, despite what has been a challenging year. We are determined to help The Base Support Services in Goodna find help for the remaining four families, so if you can assist, please check out this free story and get in contact with them.

The organisation was able to ensure all of its families in need were adopted this year. CCHS housing support worker Dominee Hart said 2021 may have been the most important year yet for the Adopt a Family Appeal, with many people still feeling the effects of the COVID-19 restrictions. Churches of Christ Housing Services support worker Dominee Hart has thanked the community for supporting needy families as part of the QT Adopt a Family Appeal.
