Committee Struggles To Find Date for Twice-Postponed Waveny Fireworks

The volunteer committee that organizes the annual Fourth of July fireworks in Waveny is struggling to find a new date for the twice-postponed event, officials say. Originally scheduled for July 3 with a July 11 rain date, the annual picnic and fireworks show has been put off due to rain and concerns about damaging Waveny’s athletic fields where visitors’ cars are parked, according to Recreation Director Steve Benko. “So we are looking to try and find an alternate date,” he told members of the Parks & Recreation Commission during their regular meeting, held July 14 via videoconference. ‘That’s been kind of difficult.”

Independence Day 2021 – July 4th Celebrations Across Arizona – Arizona Daily Independent

Across Arizona, communities will be celebrating the birth of our nation on the 4th of July. From Apache Junction to Yuma, there are many communities with opportunities to celebrate Independence Day. Local parades in several White Mountains communities to celebrate Independence Day will temporarily close sections of state highways on Saturday, July 3, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Drivers should plan for delays while the following temporary closures are in place: SHOW LOW: US 60 between mileposts 339 and 341 and SR 260 at milepost 341 from 9 a.m. to noon. SPRINGERVILLE-EAGAR: US 60 at milepost 387 and SR 260 at milepost 396 from 10 a.m. to noon.
