Migrant family border exemption provides entry to ‘hundreds’ A caveat that excludes those without a year left on their visa will still leave thousands of families separated. Immigration Minister Kris Faafoi has announced the first policy specific to migrant workers with family stranded offshore. From April 30 a new set of border exemptions will see hundreds of the families members of critical workers with longer-term work visas finally have their applications processed by Immigration New Zealand. The exemption will also cover a small number of other highly skilled workers in other sectors who are currently in New Zealand. However, the announcement comes with a likely big caveat - the exemption applies only to the families of those that still have 12 months remaining on the terms of their visa. ....
