PLANS to set up a “people’s tribunal” for deaths in custody were given a major boost this week with Black Lives Matter UK donating £40,000 to the project. The United Families & Friends Campaign (UFFC), a coalition of family members who have lost loved ones in police custody, said its tribunal will invite international human-rights experts to investigate failures to prosecute those responsible for their relatives’ deaths. The donation is part of a wider scheme by BLM UK to release more than £100,000 to black-led organisations across the country after it received £1.2 million from a GoFundMe appeal during protests last summer. UFFC, which is leading the initiative with Migrant Media and 4WardEverUK, welcomed the donation. ....
