My heart sank a few weeks ago when we were told we were going back to home-based learning (HBL). It is a concept not foreign to me as my first year at Republic Polytechnic was during Singapore s circuit breaker.
I had always thought HBL was a dream come true – a miracle and a welcome respite from school. In fact, years ago, this would have been my preferred way of learning. At that time, I felt there were many perks that came with having lessons at home. ....

From shopping for Hari Raya outfits to ordering savoury dishes, Republic Polytechnic student Atiqa Sams and her family were busy getting ready for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, until they heard the news.
Stricter Covid-19 rules that kicked in on May 8 meant that only five people are allowed in social gatherings, and the public has been advised to keep to just two of such gatherings – with households allowed to receive five visitors each day.
For Atiqa and many other Muslims in Singapore, though they were anticipating a much happier Hari Raya than the one during last year s circuit breaker, they would now revert to celebrate this occasion digitally. ....

For obvious reasons, Fadtris does not have a driver s license yet.
But before you report him to the traffic police, he s only ever driven and drifted on sim-racing games.

The sim in sim-racing and sim-racer is short for simulated .
The e-sport involves a computer simulation where a realistic race is replicated on a game console, down to the minute details like grip and tyre behaviour.

And it seems like Fadtris is pretty good at it, since he has been signed on as a sim-racer with Legion of Racers (LOR), an international team of e-sports athletes from Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines. ....

SINGAPORE: The Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Friday (Apr 30) handed over six MRT stations along the second stage of the Thomson-East Coast Line to train operator SMRT.
This marks a key milestone in the lead-up to the opening of the second stage of the Thomson-East Coast Line in the third quarter of this year, said LTA in a news release.
