Couple booked under Land Grabbing Act for illegally occupying NRI's bungalow | Rajkot News

RAJKOT: A husband-wife duo was booked under Gujarat Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act 2020 for allegedly encroaching upon a bungalow owned by a non-resident Indian (NRI) on Sadhu Vasvani Road in Rajkot.
According to University Police Station officials, Dhimant Kothari (62), a resident of Shree Ram Park on Kalawad road, lodged a complaint against Shobhna Gohel and her husband Manish Gohel under various sections of the Gujarat Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act 2020. Kothari accused the couple of illegally occupying the bungalow owned by Neena Shah, who now lives in London, UK. Kothari is husband of Shah’s sister.
The complaint stated that Shah had rented her bungalow Shobhna in 2014 for a few months. Shobhna was a teacher with a reputed school in the city then. Everything was fine for the first few months and Shobhna kept paying rent regularly. After few months, Shobhna stopped paying rent and even refused to vacate the bungalow, Kothari alleged in t ....

Criminal booked for land grabbing | Rajkot News


Rajkot: A 37-year-old man from Dhoraji town in Rajkot district was booked under the Gujarat Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act 2020 for allegedly grabbing land belonging to the local civic body, a few weeks ago.
According to Dhoraji police, Dhoraji municipality s planning officer Shailesh Bhalgamiya lodged a complaint against Salim alias Babar Ismail Matva, a resident of Dhoraji for grabbing municipality s land on Sanghariya Road and illegally constructing five shops on the land. However, before he rented out or sold, it came to the knowledge of the local urban body which lodged the complaint.
“We have lodged a complaint against Matva. As many as 35 criminal cases including murder has been lodged against him till now. He escaped from the town after the latest case was lodged against him,” police said. ....

Five more offences registered under new land grabbing Act | Surat News

Surat: City police registered altogether five offences under the recently introduced Gujarat Land Grabbing (Prohibition) (GLGP) Act on Saturday. Total 14 accused were booked for allegedly encroaching land of different individuals in various police stations. The accused were booked under various sections of Indian Penal Code for forgery, threatening and trespassing.
“Victims of various land grabbing cases had approached the district collector office and after examining their grievances, a committee had ordered police to register these complaints. Afterwards, city police commissioner orders police stations concerned to register FIRs,” said a senior police official.
Investigation of these cases have been handed over to the assistant commissioner of police of different divisions. ....
