The Bureau of Meteorology advised Cairns Airport had received 194mm between 9am Monday and 8.30am Tuesday, and that it would be hard to suggest the record hadn t already been broken, but the data needed to be confirmed, which could take days. Another 79mm of rain has fallen at the airport in the past six hours, though the day s heaviest falls so far have been at Tully where 128mm has fallen since 9am. ....
A police probe by the Forensic Crash Unit is continuing into the incident with a renewed call for anyone who either saw the vehicle travelling in the area prior to the crash or was driving in the area and has dashcam footage. Constable Stephanie Young said the car - a white Nissan Navara - was believed to have been driving north on Kamerunga Road before turning right onto Lower Freshwater Road. The vehicle is alleged to have struck Mr Mills a short distance down the road. The 35-year-old driver has undergone mandatory blood testing and police are awaiting the results. Date Time Vehicle and pedestrian incident, Barron A 49-year-old man is in a critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Barron yesterday afternoon. At 5.25pm, the man was walking to the side of Lower Freshwater Road when he was struck by the vehicle. He was transported to the Cairns Hospital where he remains with serious injuries. The 35-year-old male driver of the Nissan Navara was not physically injured during the incident. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
