This weekend in the Adirondacks: A great time to be on the water

Brothers. Between Fire and Water, Lower Saranac Lake, NY. Archive Photo of the Day by S. Nicholas Jul 16, 2021 Plan on encountering some showers or a thunderstorm this weekend. Watch the weather closely and be aware of the possibility for localized flooding. The recent rain has lowered the fire danger, and brought rivers and streams to well above normal levels for this time of year. Stream crossings may be difficult or impassible around the region this weekend. High waters with strong currents can be dangerous – use extra care if you are visiting one of the region’s swimming holes or going paddling.   It’s a great time to check out some of the region’s many waterfalls – just use caution.

Leslie Ann Moquin | News, Sports, Jobs - Lake Placid News

Mar 4, 2021 At 12:02 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, the world lost one of its finest human beings when Leslie Ann Moquin, 63, passed away at home with family by her side. Born March 6, 1957, in Plattsburgh, she was the daughter of Armand and Maureen Moquin (Shapter). She graduated from Beekmantown Central High School anxious to start her journey through life. Her passion for “everything” skiing held no boundaries and she could be seen chasing ski lifts with her sister well into May. She was a true nature girl who loved to camp, kayak, fish and hike while expertly identifying plants and birds along the way.
