No new COVID-19 infections logged on March 9 morning
Vietnam reported no new COVID-19 cases in the past 12 hours to 6:00 am on March 9, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.
The country recorded 1,586 domestically-transmitted infections, including 893 cases since the latest outbreak began on January 27.
As many as 45,219 people who came in close contact with COVID-19 patients or arrived from pandemic-hit areas are under quarantine nationwide, including 506 in hospitals, 14,266 in other quarantine sites, and 30,446 at home.
Among the patients under treatment, 65 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 once, 57 twice, and 137 thrice. ....

Strict social distancing measures will be lifted from the northern province of Hai Duong, Vietnam’s COVID-19 epicenter at present, from Wednesday, as the locality will focus on pandemic control while boosting socio-economic development.
Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Pham Xuan Thang said at a meeting on Monday that extending the social distancing period would be unnecessary.
The province will enter a new state and concentrate on the double goal of fighting COVID-19 and promoting socio-economic development, Thang continued.
The COVID-19 situation in Hai Duong has been controlled well during the past 33 days, the official added. ....

Hanoi mandates 14-day self-isolation for returnees from COVID-19 epicenter

Entrants to Hanoi from certain districts and cities of Hai Duong Province, the current COVID-19 epicenter in Vietnam, will be required to self-isolate for 14 days for monitoring, according to the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (Hanoi CDC).
The direction was stated on Monday by Khong Minh Tuan, deputy director of the Hanoi CDC during a meeting of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control to review the state of COVID-19 transmission in Hai Duong.
According to Tuan, Hai Duong reported four cases of COVID-19 transmission on Saturday, all of whom are in isolated zones, while other cases of direct transmission from the infected have been quarantined. ....

A Vietnamese man has been caught clinging onto a foam float to swim from the COVID-19 epicenter of Hai Duong Province to Hai Phong City in northern Vietnam, instead of traveling through control points.
The Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control in Hai Phong on Monday said that the case was discovered by police in Dai Ban Commune, An Duong District and a task force of Van Tien Village during a patrol session on Sunday. ....

Teacher in northern Vietnam fined for false health declaration

H.T.T., 55, a teacher at Tran Nguyen Han High School in northern Hai Phong City was fined VND10 million ($434) for her false medical declaration that impeded the effort to prevent COVID-19, said leaders of the Le Chan District People’s Committee under the city.
It was revealed that she had traveled to Hai Duong Province, a COVID-19 epicenter in northern Vietnam, which she did not disclose in her compulsory medical declaration. ....
