Plum Hollow Country Club celebrates 100 years
Club general manager Rick Burkardt said Plum Hollow has both its leadership over the years and its members to thank for helping it reach 100 years of business.

SOUTHFIELD On May 14, 1921, the Plum Hollow Country Club opened its doors to the public. Now, exactly 100 years later, the 157-acre site at Nine Mile and Lahser roads is still standing thanks to its leadership and support from members.
“Plum Hollow is a stunning course,” said Southfield Mayor Ken Siver. “The terrain is beautiful with the rolling hills and the ravine. I always have felt it’s a Southfield gem. It is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, still operating institution in the city.”

Phil Mickelson will try to become golf s oldest major winner on Sunday by capturing the PGA Championship at windy Kiawah Island.
The American left-hander, seeking his sixth major title, owned a one-stroke lead over Brooks Koepka as the final round began on the formidable Ocean Course, the longest layout in major history at 7,876 yards.
Mickelson would erase the major age win mark set by American Julius Boros when he won the 1968 PGA Championship at age 48.
World number 115 Mickelson stood on seven-under par 209 through 54 holes with compatriot Koepka, a four-time major champion, one stroke adrift and South African Louis Oosthuizen third on 211.
