Neatly wrapped packets and boxes of lentils, flour, rice, cooking oil, tea, spices, beverages, and other food items are arranged in shelves at a sprawling supermarket in the city s eastern district.
Citizens are buying more than the usual not only to cope with the extra consumption, but to distribute among the less fortunate, or those who have been unemployed due to an economic slowdown aided by the COVID-19 pandemic. ....

Al Khidmat signs MoU

Islamabad:A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Al-Khidmat Foundation (AKF) Islamabad and the Department of Rehabilitation and Science of Ta meer-e-Millat University to facilitate orphans.
Secretary General Al-Khidmat Foundation Altaf Sher, Dr Muhammad Baqir Khan Khakwani, Azhar Shah, Shehzad Abbasi and Bilal Anwar also graced the occasion. Under the agreement, the Department of Rehabilitation and Science (Department of Rehabilitation and Science), in collaboration with the Khidmat Foundation, will provide all kinds of rehabilitation facilities to orphans.
The Department of Rehabilitation and Science Service will organize fitness camps for children, their parents and staff at various events. The Department of Rehabilitation and Science Service will also provide full rehab facilities at the Razi Hospital of the Foundation. Razi will also train the staff. ....

LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Prof Dr Yasmin Rashid has said that Punjab government laid emphasis on prevention and diagnosis soon after outbreak of coronavirus pandemic, which helped control the disease to a reasonable level in the province.
“When the COVID-19 pandemic struck in the province, Punjab was able to conduct only up to 400 tests per day and later enhanced its diagnostic capacity to enable itself to conduct 22,000 to 23,000 tests per day currently,” she said while speaking at a video-conference on “COVID-19 – Importance of Diagnosis for Prevention and Challenges” organised by Mir Khalil-ur-Rehman Memorial Society (Jang Group of Newspapers) here on Wednesday. The Health Minister said that Punjab adopted uniform protocol in treatment of COVID-19, which helped in preventing its disastrous effects to considerable extent. ....

Aghosh home in Lower Dir plans to take in more orphans

TIMERGARA: The Aghosh home in Lower Dir, a project of the Al-Khidmat Foundation, has planned to facilitate more orphan children at its Gulabad facility.
Aghosh centre Gulabad administrator Saeedullah told reporters said they were providing accommodation, health, education and sports facilities to 89 orphans hailing from various districts of Malakand division.
He said the Al-Khidmat Foundation launched the project to financially and socially support the orphan children.
Saeedullah said it was the responsibility of the state to take care of orphan children, but it could not do so due to financial constraints. ....
