Husband arrested in connection with South Windsor mom's death | News


EAST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) The search for a missing South Windsor mother ended in East Hartford on Friday.
South Windsor police said the body of Jessica Edwards was found near Hockanum River Linear Park in East Hartford on Friday morning.

A large police presence was seen near the Hockanum River Reservoir all day.
The search for a missing South Windsor mother ended in East Hartford on Friday.
On Friday evening, South Windsor police said Edwards husband, 22-year-old Tahj Hutchinson, was arrested in connection to her death. 
An autopsy is slated to happen Saturday morning. ....

As drivers across the state and nation pay the price for soaring catalytic converter thefts the latest rendering more than two dozen Greater Hartford Transit buses inoperable one police department suggests owners mark theirs to discourage thieves from sliding under their cars, sawing them off and selling them to scrap dealers.
Manchester police on Tuesday said vehicle owners should consider labeling their catalytic converters, which use precious metals and chemical reactions to clean exhaust. The value of those metals has gone up, climbing steeply during the coronavirus pandemic, with recyclers shelling out $50 to $250 per converter, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau. ....

NEW HAVEN (AP) The American Red Cross says it is helping 37 people in Connecticut after fires damaged their homes on Friday and Saturday. One person was injured in one of the fires and taken to a hospital, while no other injuries were reported.
A fire at an apartment building in New Haven late Friday afternoon displaced nine families, including 12 adults and seven children, fire officials said.
Early Friday afternoon, a fire at a multifamily home in East Hartford left four adults and two children in two families homeless.
A fire Friday morning in Tolland displaced four adults. Fire officials say one person was taken to a hospital and 12 rabbits died. ....

The Day - Study of state high schoolers finds remote learners more likely to be left behind

Connecticut high school students learning exclusively at home during the pandemic are in greater danger of failing to advance to the next grade than those who opted for a model that includes at least some in-person learning, according to a report released Monday by the nonprofit educational organization RISE.
The report found that 33% of high school students in the urban districts it studied are in danger of not progressing to the next grade, which compares to about 15% in a non-pandemic year.
The report looked at more than 12,000 students in Hartford, East Hartford, Manchester, Middletown, Norwalk, Naugatuck, Meriden and Stamford during the first 2 [1/2] months of the school year. ....
