They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and a photo of a signed basketball remembering a moment of sports success for Kirkman High in the 1950s started quite a conversation recently among three former players about playing for their well-liked coach, Jack Carr.
Coach Carr had died in 2008, and one of his sons, Allen, with whom I had gone to Baylor in the 1970s, was going through some of his father’s items recently and had emailed me saying he had a signed basketball. ....
Allie E. Worley Thursday, July 1, 2021 Allie E. Worley, of Chattanooga, passed away at home on June 27, 2021, at the age of 90. She was a lifelong resident of the East Brainerd community and a member of the Westview Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of the Edmondson College of Business and worked for many years for Bill Knowles, Hamilton County Clerk, until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfield T. Worley; her parents John and Elsie Everett; and seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her two daughters, Donna of Cleveland, and Jan (Bill) of Chattanooga, as well as three grandchildren. ....
Police Blotter: Father, Son In Heated Argument Over How Hot It Was Outside; Man Sleeping In Parking Lot At Taco Bell Is Fine To Be There Monday, June 28, 2021 A father and son were arguing inside a storage facility on East Brainerd Road. Police spoke with the man who said he and his son were arguing over how hot it was outside. He made clear that everything was perfectly fine.
Police were called to Rainbow Circle to investigate a car in a ditch and found it was stolen. It was removed from NCIC and White s Auto Repair towed the vehicle.
An employee at High Point Antiques on Broad Street said a medium size man with brown hair in his 40 s stole the city of Chattanooga trash can that belonged to the businesses. No other info is known on the man, as none of the workers had seen him before. ....
