ON April 16, 1979, The Fiji Times reported on a battle between police and some men in the streets of Nausori.
Police were stoned as wild gangs of rowdies fought a street battle with officers at Nausori and then went on a rampage of vandalism through the town, smashing shop windows.
Police were stoned and pelted with bottles during the clash and a 15-man squad of mobile reinforcements was called in from Nasinu. ....

No sign of Andrea, despite exhaustive search by cops and army

After several hours of searching a forested area at Nonpariel Road off Fishing Pond Road in Sangre Grande today, a joint Army-Police Patrol are no closer to finding 23-year-old Andrea Bharatt.
From early this morning, Eastern Division Police combed the heavily forested area with the help of the Army and tracker dogs, in the hope of finding clues to Andrea’s whereabouts.
A senior police official revealed to Guardian Media that they were unable to find anything that could lead them to her, or any semblance of evidence that she actually had been in that area.
