RAPID CITY, S.D. One man was arrested Monday morning after allegedly causing an accident at the intersection of East Boulevard North and Omaha Street.
Shawn Blackbear, Sr., 33, of Rapid City, was driving a Ford Escape when he struck a Hyundai Sonata. Rapid City Police had located an open container of alcohol in the vehicle and determined Blackbear was too impaired to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Witnesses say around 4:55 a.m. the Sonata was stopped in the westbound lane of Omaha Street for the four-way flashing red light before proceeding into the intersection when it was struck by Blackbear, who had failed to stop.
