Lyon County Sheriff’s Office: Miller A. Liwis, 51, of George, Iowa was arrested at 5:07 p.m. Tuesday following a report of an intoxicated person at Casey’s General Store in George. Liwis was charged with going armed with intent, a Class D felony, and consumption of alcohol in a public place, a simple misdemeanor. He was transported to the Lyon County Jail.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary, a Class 4 felony, after allegedly breaking into a food truck at 11th Street Station and stealing an estimated $2,500 in cash.
The Durango Police Department said in a statement that officers responded to a burglary Jan. 25 to find a safe, cash register drawer, cellphones and more than $2,500 stolen. DPD said the break-in likely occurred just before midnight Jan. 24, according to surveillance footage that was reviewed. ....

A 26-year-old Durango man who fled from police more than a week ago was caught Wednesday afternoon and is in law enforcement custody, according to the Durango Police Department.
Freedom Anderson was first contacted Jan. 18 by law enforcement for a felony warrant at the Durango Post Office, 222 W. Eighth St., but reportedly took off. The vehicle was seen again in north Durango and Anderson allegedly crashed the vehicle into a residence near Eighth Street and East Eight A ....

The citywide mask mandate could be extended or repealed by the Mitchell City Council on Tuesday at City Hall.

The Mitchell City Council will consider rescinding or extending the citywide mask mandate on Tuesday, which could determine the fate of the ordinance that s been in place for two months.
If the council opts out of rescinding or extending the mask ordinance during the 6 p.m. Tuesday meeting, the mandate will automatically expire on Jan. 27, marking the 60-day period set by the council. In recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, the council will meet Tuesday at City Hall. ....
