Modus Operandi Public Art: Vivien Lovell Interview - Revd Jonathan Evens

Founded in 1999, Modus Operandi, an independent arts unit with a track record of curating and producing high-quality art in the public realm, recently celebrated its 21st birthday. To mark this milestone, the company selected 21 projects at random, spanning the years since Vivien Lovell soft-launched the company.
Vivien is a visual arts curator with established expertise in commissioning permanent and temporary art within the public realm
Prior to founding Modus Operandi, she had been Founder-Director of Public Art Commissions Agency (PACA) from 1987 to 1999. She has championed the field of art in the public realm since 1978, integrating art strategically as a key element of environmental, architectural and regenerative schemes, and has initiated many collaborative projects between artists, architects and other design professionals. ....

Denver’s biennial Month of Photography returns in force this week, ready to take on the very unusual challenges posed by the current pandemic.
The photo fest, always a mix of exhibits and lectures, is adding complementary outdoor and online offerings that allow folks at all leaving-the-house comfort levels to take part.
The lineup, presented with curatorial flair by the Colorado Photographic Arts Center, is sprawling and ambitious, showcasing the work of hundreds of photographers near and far, new and familiar. Christmas angel arrives in Helston parish church St Michael's


People in Helston were amazed to look out of their windows just before Christmas to see a large angel walking through the town.
With moveable arms and legs, the nine-foot tall angel made its way from the Museum of Cornish Life and along Church Street up to St Michael s Church.
It was made by artist Tony Crosby, a regular with Truro City of Lights, to echo the angels dancing the Flora Dance in the church’s East Window and mark the conclusion of a major restoration project at the church.
Now resident within the church, it received more than 100 visitors on the Saturday before Christmas during a church open day. ....
