No charges for Aurora officers who handcuffed Black family after mistaking their SUV as stolen Denver7 and last updated 2021-01-08 17:01:41-05 AURORA, Colo. â No charges are being filed against Aurora police officers who in August handcuffed a Black family after mistaking their vehicle as stolen, though prosecutors called the incident very concerning and called on police to investigate why the officers weren t trained better. The 18th Judicial District Attorney s Office announced the decision Friday morning. The incident happened Aug. 2 and involved Aurora officers Darian Dasko and Madison Moen. Dasko and Moen stopped the family s Dodge SUV near South Chambers Road and East Iliff Avenue, believing it was a reported stolen vehicle. The stolen vehicle report turned out to be from a motorcycle in Montana, not the family s SUV. ....
Investigators searching for tips five years after deadly Aurora shooting and last updated 2020-12-22 22:59:52-05 AURORA, Colo. â Five years ago Tuesday, Jevon Bailey was murdered in Aurora, Colorado and the case is still unsolved. Bailey was shot and killed on Dec. 22, 2015 on East Iliff Avenue at East Warren Drive after an altercation with another man. Before the shooting, a white 4-door sedan was seen following Bailey in his blue Volkswagon Jetta in the neighborhood north of the shooting scene, according to the original Aurora Police Department press release. Bailey stopped at a stop sign at the intersection, the sedan pulled up next to him and there was a brief verbal exchange. As Bailey pulled into the intersection, a person in the sedan fired shots at Bailey, one of them hitting and killing him. Bailey then collided with another vehicle on Iliff Avenue. ....
