Sturgis man sentenced after plea in felony cases

Caleb Wing of Sturgis will serve a minimum of 19 months in prison after entering guilty pleas in three separate felony cases.
The sentence was imposed Monday in Branch County Circuit Court in Coldwater.
Judge Bill O’Grady sentenced Wing, 28, to 16-24 months for resisting trooper Jacob Owen and Deputy Doug Pope when stopped outside Coldwater in June 2020 for the officers to serve a warrant for his arrest.
Wing was wanted for probation violations in both St. Joseph and Branch counties. He had convictions for breaking-and-entering, larceny in a building and possession of methamphetamine. At the time, Wing was wearing a tether, which tagged his located earlier that month Shaffmaster Storage Units on South Angola Road. Owners told authorities they saw him drive away from two units that had been broken open. The SUV was registered to his wife.

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) â A Matteson Township man who was charged by prosecutors after a rock was thrown through a neighborâs front door window last January entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
42-year-old Jonathan Vern Fleming entered a no contest plea to a charge of malicious destruction of property between $200 and $1,000.
In exchange for his plea, charges of felonious assault and malicious destruction of a building between $1,000 and $20,000 will be dismissed by prosecutors.
Sentencing is scheduled for August 23.
According to court documents, the rock that was thrown through the window barely missed hitting a man inside.
