COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) â A Coldwater man who was facing ten charges involving child sex crimes has entered into a plea bargain with Branch County Prosecutors.
69-year-old Dennis Roger Watson entered no contest pleas last Friday in Branch County Circuit Court to charges of first degree criminal sexual conduct with an underage girl as well as to a count of second degree C.S.C..
In exchange for his pleas, prosecutors dismissed eight other charges against Watson. He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 26.
The first degree Criminal Sexual Conduct count carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of 25 years to life. The second degree C.S.C. is a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Pursuant to Michigan law, the resolution reached in this case will result in the Defendant being incarcerated until he is at least 93 years old.

A five-month investigation into Coldwater s methamphetamine supply by the Michigan State Police Southwest Enforcement Team resulted in the arrest of Paul Dirschell, 58, on two charges of delivering the drug to an undercover agent.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Dirschell was identified as a possible local source of the drug after numerous possession arrests by troopers in Coldwater.
MSP SWET Det. Paulino Hernandez said the defendant sold him 1.9 grams of the drug Jan. 7 from his home off North Michigan Avenue.
Four days later, Dirschell was contacted again to purchase meth. When the undercover operative arrived, Dirschell told him, according to the police report, he was waiting for delivery of the drug.

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) â The Branch County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution during Tuesdayâs meeting which approves an interlocal agreement on the lake level of Lake George.
The Branch County Circuit Court entered a lake level order on September 10, 2020 for the Michigan portion of Lake George that would match the level established on the Indiana side of the lake. A Michigan special assessment district for lake level improvements was also created by the order.
