Brocklehurst residents won’t soon forget the national tragedy that struck their sleepy neighbourhood exactly one year ago today (May 17).
On May 17, 2020, a Snowbirds CT-114 Tutor jet fell out of the sky over a residential area during the Canadian Forces 431 squadron’s cross-country Operation Inspiration tour to raise people’s spirits during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The squad’s public affairs officer, Capt. Jennifer Casey, was killed in the crash, while pilot Capt. Richard MacDougall sustained serious injuries. ....

Residents of a Kamloops neighbourhood are still grappling with the fallout from a Canadian Snowbird plummeting from the sky and crashing through the peace of their everyday lives.
An obvious reminder of the May 17, 2020 crash that killed Capt. Jenn Casey and shocked the nation is 2435 Glenview Ave. Its front yard is where the plane hit the ground, driving about six feet under the earth, sending jet fuel and debris into the nearby area and restoration is ongoing.
On the outside, the home looks like any residential construction site. The siding is removed all around, with Tyvek house wrap covering the burnt portion of wall space. An excavated section of the yard exposes a foundation under construction. ....

The Jamestown City Council discussed executing a $3 million grant for the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities for a $5 million water line replacement project in the city.
The Jamestown City Council will vote later this month to execute a $3 million grant for the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities.
During a council work session meeting Monday, members discussed a resolution to execute the grant agreement with the state Environmental Facilities Corporation for a $5 million water line replacement project in the city. In July 2020, the BPU approved a resolution to authorize the city to accept the $3 million state Clean Water Infrastructure Improvement Act grant and enter into an agreement to borrow $2 million from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund. ....
