The rodents will be brought to a site in Tottenham in north London. While most of the area is built-up, there are still places suitable for beavers, including a large marshland that urban planners and biologists hope the critters will find desirable. The project is being carried out by Citizen Zoo, a rewilding group that seeks to bring nature to urban areas, recently releasing 200 water voles (

East Devon Pebblebed Heaths, stretching between the village of Woodbury towards Budleigh Salterton on the Jurassic Coast, is the latest site in the county to join the UK’s list of nationally and internationally important landscapes.
The management partners are the Pebblebed Heaths Conservation Trust, Devon Wildlife Trust and the RSPB. A new board, under the chairmanship of Chris Woodruff, the manager of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Partnership, will guide and advise the partners in the management of the new NNR.
The Lower Otter Estuary in Budleigh Salterton. Picture: PACCo Vegetation and tree clearance work at a project that will return a Devon estuary and floodplain to a more natural condition has been postponed after campaigners were left furious over the impact it would have on nesting birds. Wildlife TV presenter Chris Packham led the campaign after highlighting the issue in a video on Twitter that has been viewed over 35,000 times. The project, that was set to begin on Tuesday, would have seen the removal of vegetation on the River Otter estuary, which would be essential for the success of the project and the restoration of an intertidal landscape which will become home to many new species.
