Queen Margaret Hospital practitioner thinks up personalised theatre cap initiative

A DUNFERMLINE medic s idea to help communication in Fife s operating theatres has been adopted.
Operating department practitioner Lindsay Quinn came up with the idea of personalised theatre caps to help both healthcare staff and patients.
Around 450 clinical staff working across all theatres have now been offered the headwear with their names and job titles adorning the front.
This is helping to enable clinical staff working in theatres to see at a glance the names of those they are working alongside as well as their individual role within the theatre team.
It is hoped it will also help patients who may be disorientated and coming round after anaesthetic to have the reassurance of being able to address the staff caring for them by name. ....

Alarm over dramatic drop in surgeries across Tayside and Fife

The number of planned surgeries has dropped across Scotland
A new study has revealed an “alarming” drop in the number of operations being carried out across Tayside and Fife.
Year-on-year statistics have confirmed that only 870 planned surgeries took place in Tayside in January this year, compared to 2,204 the year before – a drop of around 60%.
In Fife, the discrepancy is even bigger with just 197 elective operations in January, around 85% less than the 1,394 total from the same period in 2020.

Duke’s recognizes staff at Princess Nahi‘ena‘ena Elementary School

KAANAPALI Duke’s Beach House recently recognized the Educator of the Month Recipients at Princess Nahi’ena’ena Elementary School.
Each recipient was presented with an engraved box and a $100 certificate to Duke’s Beach House.
The following educators were celebrated for their outstanding work: Irene Tihada, July 2020; Claire Dobson, August 2020; Suzanne Walters, September 2020; Kim Camacho, October 2020; Pomai’kai Santos, November 2020; Abraham Rasos, December 2020; Megan Lindquist, January 2021; and Lori Kaufman, February 2021.
