Huntsville s local economy is recovering at a faster rate than the rest of the country.
The Huntsville Madison County Chamber of Commerce says employment in the area has already recovered and the GDP is expected to be back to how it was before the pandemic by the end of this year.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the Huntsville location of Whataburger is set for 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Whataburger and the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce will take part in the ceremony at the future site of the restaurant, 11701 South Memorial Parkway.
The restaurant is scheduled to open in the fall, creating 100 jobs.
Whataburger opened this week in Decatur. A groundbreaking ceremony for a restaurant in Madison will take place this summer.

As Candice Jacquemin reflected on her first in-person 5K event in more than 13 months, she couldn’t help but acknowledge a bit of a running rust she needed to work out along a flat course through the neighborhoods of Gulf Shores.
“It was exciting and exhilarating to get out there,” said Jacquemin, 26, of Robertsdale, and one of 550 participants in Saturday’s Zydeco Crawfish 5K Run/Walk event. The event was the first non-virtual coordinate running event Jacquemin participated in since the Publix Atlanta Marathon, held on March 1, 2020. ....

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - According to the annual 2020 United Van Lines National Movers Study, Alabama made the top 10 list of states people moved to in 2020, coming in at number 8.
Meanwhile, Huntsville came in as the fourth most moved to city for in 2020.
Claire Aiello with the Huntsville Madison County Chamber said the reason behind people moving to the Rocket City is simple.
“This is a market that’s very resilient to the pandemic,” she said. “A lot of people who are able to work from home here. Many of our companies have positions where you can telework.” ....
