Area of Southampton has Covid rate similar to worst-hit parts of central London AN AREA of Southampton has a Covid infection rate worse than many parts of London, the latest data has revealed. Public Heath England says that Redbridge and Millbrook West has a rate of 1,008.6 cases per 100,000 people – which means 1 in every 100 residents had Covid-19 in the week-to July 18. The data also shows that it recorded 75 cases in that seven-day period, which was up 127.3% (42 cases) on the week before. It has a rate close to the worst in central London, including Clapham South (1,031.3), Tooting Bec Common (1,152), and Balham (943.7). Other areas of Southampton recorded high rates, but not close to that of their neighbour in Redbridge.
