When the supplies in local blessing boxes started showing a clear pattern, that hygiene products were the first to go, the next step in assisting Wheeling’s needy was clear.
The Health & Hygiene Closet opened its doors at Laughlin Memorial Chapel in Wheeling on Monday morning, brought into being through a partnership between the chapel, UniCare and other community partners such as the Ohio County Family Resource Network. ....

South Wheeling To Get 'Blessing Box' | News, Sports, Jobs

A “blessing box” is coming to the South Wheeling neighborhood this week.
Blessing boxes are outdoor storage closets filled with free food items and hygiene products for those who need them, and the public is encouraged to bring and donate items to the box for its continued use.
The South Wheeling box is the seventh of its kind to be placed in the Wheeling area. It will be opened to the public at 3:15 p.m. Thursday and located outside the Elks Lodge at 4706 Jacob St.
The blessing boxes are provided by the Ohio County Family Resource Network and the Soup Kitchen of Greater Wheeling, who partner with local organizations that commit to routine monitoring and stocking of the boxes. ....

Ohio County Names 2021 Champions of Children | News, Sports, Jobs

WHEELING Since 2010, the Ohio County Partners in Prevention Team has recognized three Champions of Children in April as part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Although COVID-19 derailed last year’s awards, the team has adapted this year’s ceremony to be held remotely on the Ohio County Family Resource Network Facebook page at 2 p.m. Friday, April 23.
The 2021 Deborah Doleski Allen Champion of Children Award recipients are:
