Telecom operators in Nigeria on Friday deactivated Twitter on their networks, SaharaReporters has gathered.
Major ones include MTN Nigeria, Glo Mobile, Airtel and 9Mobile.
Nigerians who spoke with SaharaReporters said they could not access the microblogging site on their phone and computers.
The Nigerian government suspended Twitter s operations indefinitely after accusing the micro-blogging site of undermining Nigeria s existence .
In a statement on Friday, Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information, said the government was forced to act because of the persistent use of the platform for activities capable of undermining Nigeria s corporate existence . ....

NCC allocates 383 million new telephone numbers to operators

The Nigerian Communications Commission has provided 382.94 million new telephone numbers for the use of telecommunications operators.
The commission assigned the numbers to 34 licensed telecom operators in the first quarter of 2021, as contained in the NCC’s Q1 2021 National Numbering Plan released on Friday.
The numbering plan is used to allocate a unique national number to each subscriber connected to the national telephone system.
According to the NCC, the purpose of the NNP is to set up a uniform numbering scheme and the associated dialling procedures to be used in the network to allow subscribers and operators to set up calls. ....

NCC allocates 382.9 million telephone numbers to TELCOs

Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) says it has allocated a total of 382.94 million telephone numbers, to all telecommunications services providers since the inception of digital mobile services in the country in 2001.
This was contained in NCC’s national numbering plan (NNP) first quarter released on Friday.
The NNP is a routine periodic report issued as part of NCC’s mandate to publish and update all telephone numbers allocated to service providers for the benefit of stakeholders.
According to NCC, the purpose of NNP is to set up a uniform numbering scheme and the associated dialling procedures to be used in the network to allow subscribers and operators set up calls. ....
