Brough Brothers Distillery Joins The Kentucky Distillers’ Association
The Kentucky Distillers’ Association announced recently that Brough Brothers Distillery in Louisville is the latest member of the non-profit trade group that unites and leads Kentucky’s signature bourbon and distilled spirits industry.
Brough Brothers Distillery is the 42nd to join the association. It is said to be the first and only African American-owned, licensed and operating distillery in the state of Kentucky. It was founded by Victor, Bryson and Christian Yarbrough, three brothers who were born and raised in Louisville.
“It is an honor to be recognized and accepted as a KDA member,” Brough Brothers Distillery CEO Victor Yarbrough said in a prepared statement. “We thank the KDA and its members for their tremendous support as we strive to build a legacy that Kentucky will be proud of.” ....

Brough Brothers, Kentucky's First Black-Owned Distillery, Has Opened Its Doors

History was made late last year as Brough Brothers Distillery, the first and so far only Black-owned whiskey distillery in the state of Kentucky, produced its first bottles.
The creation of Louisville natives and brothers Victor, Bryson, and Christian Yarbrough, the distillery was established in the city’s West End, a historically Black neighborhood that was also home to the first library in the U.S. available to Black citizens and where boxer Muhammad Ali grew up. The Yarbroughs are hoping to help revitalize this area by providing jobs to local and supporting other nearby businesses.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. Brough Brothers Distillery, the first and only Black-owned distillery in the state of Kentucky, opened its doors for business earlier this month in Louisville.
The distillery was founded by Victor, Bryson, and Christian Yarbrough, three brothers born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. They wanted to produce quality bourbon whiskey in an industry that has thus far remained largely inaccessible to minority entrepreneurs. They are committed to supporting other local businesses in an effort to revitalize the West End neighborhood in which Brough Brothers is based. Their distillery will provide job opportunities and economic growth for the community of Park Hill, a historically underserved area of Louisville’s West End. ....
