FAIRFIELD A high-ranking member of the town’s police department has resigned following investigations into his handling of an employee’s harassment complaint, the chief said.
Police Capt. Christopher Tursi resigned May 12 after an Internal Affairs probe concluded he mishandled an employee s 2019 harassment complaint and his responses to investigators were “untruthful” when asked about whether he read text messages sent to the woman.

FAIRFIELD, CT A Fairfield police captain recently resigned after multiple investigations into his handling of a harassment complaint revealed he repeatedly violated department policies, according to information provided by the agency.
Capt. Christopher Tursi resigned from the department May 12 after he was placed on paid administrative leave in March, according to Chief Robert Kalamaras. Documentation provided by the department in response to requests from Fairfield Patch details how Tursi discouraged an employee from filing a complaint, encouraged her to delete texts from her harasser, failed to properly document the complaint and lied over the course of multiple investigations.

Capt. Robert Kalamaras (Fairfield Police Department)
FAIRFIELD, CT Capt. Robert Kalamaras is poised to become the next police chief in Fairfield after the town s police commission unanimously voted to recommend him for the role.
Kalamaras will replace outgoing Chief Christopher Lyddy, who spent nearly four decades working for the department and the last two years leading it. I am very excited to be selected as the next chief of police, Kalamaras said in a prepared statement after his recommendation was announced Tuesday night. I could not have done it without the support of my fellow officers, and the leadership and mentorship of Chief Chris Lyddy.
