Five Fits With: Samer Saliba, Who Balances Migration Work With a Love of (Responsible) Luxury Fashion

Five Fits With: Samer Saliba, Who Balances Migration Work With a Love of (Responsible) Luxury Fashion Esquire 2 hrs ago © Christopher Fenimore samer saliba Years ago, I worked at a (now-defunct) menswear store in NYC called Carson Street. Samer Saliba was a top customer. The store had the same feel as your barbershop. We were warm to all customers, and happy to chat, but we had a special relationship with our regulars. Many of these regulars became friends of ours, stopping in to the shop after work for a drink, or hell, maybe we’d even grab brunch or play basketball (and with Samer, indeed we would play basketball and grab egg sandwiches after).

Samer was more than just a well-dressed regular, though. He had that same sort of magnetism I’ve mentioned of my previous subjects, but like a good majority of our customers, he didn’t work in fashion. We dive in in more detail below, but at the time, Samer worked for the International Rescue Committee, helping refugees and displaced peoples find their way to stability. It’s rare to find someone in Samer’s field dressed to the nines in designer gear. While humanitarian work and fashion might seem disjointed at a surface level, Samer is proof they need not be. One just needs to pay attention to the correct designers and their practices.

Five Fits With: Joseph Au, Creative Director of Billionaire Boys Club, Icecream, and Beeline

Five Fits With: Joseph Au, Creative Director of Billionaire Boys Club, Icecream, and Beeline The Aussie vintage expert behind the brands opens up his own closet. Christopher Fenimore Joseph Au flies well under the proverbial radar, so much so that searching his name won’t yield much. I’m a big fan of people who do their jobs well, not for noise or notoriety but for themselves. It’s also refreshing to see someone opt out of much social media in this age. While I can recall seeing some photos of Au on various street style blogs, I was unfamiliar with him till last month. A mutual friend and recent subject, Andrew Chen, thought we should meet for this project, and I’m very glad he did.
