Mariah Ochoa, a psychology senior, tweeted about her debit card information being stolen on Sunday, and received numerous replies of students having similar experiences. “I ordered my cap and gown back in February or March,” Ochoa told the Cougar. “Just a few days ago, I received an email and phone call from my bank stating that my card information was hacked, but no money was taken from my account.” ....
UH residential life director Antonio Pee was fired from a similar post at Michigan State University in February 2017 after making inappropriate and sexual contact with MSU student residents, according to disciplinary records recently obtained by The Cougar. Pee, who worked at the University of Cincinnati for two years after his firing from MSU before ultimately landing at UH in December 2019, was first disciplined in April 2016 after making “contact of a personal nature, including sexual discussion … and contact” with a student on a dating application, the documents show. Then an assistant director for residence education, Pee was put through several prohibited harassment, sexual misconduct and relationship violence training programs by Michigan State after the initial incident. ....

The Bayou Oaks townhouses felt the wrath of the Arctic blast with reports of pipe bursts early Tuesday morning. Several pipe bursts affected residential areas at Bayou Oaks, and UH told The Cougar that “cleanup efforts are underway.” “Affected students are being offered temporary relocation to other residence halls on campus,” said media relations director Chris Stipes. “Students at Cougar Place and Cougar Village II are also being offered temporary relocation following power outages.” ....
Dining services from the Cougar Woods Dining Commons will be temporarily moved to Student Center South, UH Dining The inclement weather brought by an Arctic blast has led to a power outage in the dining hall on Monday. “Cougar Woods was without power much of the day so to best serve our students, dining service shifted to the Student Center, which had power,” said UH media relations director Chris Stipes. Residence halls have also been impacted by power outages. Additionally, UH portals that students use to access platforms such as Blackboard and CASA have been down for parts of the day. ....
