UK company Lightrock Power has revealed plans for a 33MW solar farm in England. The proposed Whinfield development would be located at Whinfield and High Grange Farms, north of Brafferton, and could provide enough electricity to power the equivalent of 9900 homes or charge 12,500 electric vehicles each year. The company said that a number of ecological and feasibility studies have been carried out and Lightrock Power is now inviting local people for input on the proposal. Lightrock said it has written to residents inviting them to find out more about the project and provide feedback. Consultation runs from 19 April to 17 May, and an online exhibition detailing the plans is available on the Whinfield Solar Farm website. ....
Community meetings are to be held to consider plans for the 150 acre farm VIRTUAL community meetings are being organised by developers of a 150 acre solar farm which has come under fire from local councillors who claim it would be disproportionate and obtrusive. The firm says it will save more than 21,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere a year. But Scruton parish councillors are concerned the site is too close to their village. Lightrock Power say it is an ideal site for a solar farm, but objectors say it is is too visible with not enough screening and is a long way from being suitable. ....
A HUGE solar farm covering over 150 acres of countryside is being proposed by a power company which is calling on local people to tell them what they think of the plans. The scheme by Lightrock Power is proposed for land off Low Street between Leeming Bar and Scruton, near Bedale. The hundreds of panels would provide enough electricity to power 15,000 homes or charge 19,000 vehicles for a year. The company has sent out letters to local people outlining what the scheme will look like and how it will operate and asking for their reaction. It wants to hear what local people have to say and are aiming to put in a planning application to Hambleton District Council in the spring. ....
