NEARLY 50 Tidy Towns committees across Limerick are to receive funding of up €1,000 ahead of this year s national competition.
The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, has announced the return of the competition which was cancelled last year due to Covid-19
Special arrangements have been put in place to ensure the return of the competition this year, with the overall winners due to be announced before the end of the year.
Sponsored by SuperValu, the competition will take place in the same format as previous years, albeit with a specific emphasis on electronic entry and remote adjudication of each entry. ....

AS we prepare to embrace the prospect of an outdoor summer, Croom Community Development Association has announced a pop-up restaurant will open at Croom Town Park for the Summer months.
Hook & Ladder, which has a number of premises in the city will operate from the former Riverside Restaurant at Croom Civic Centre.
“This is a fantastic endorsement of Croom by Hook & Ladder. We are delighted to have Hook & Ladder in the centre of the town, which will be a new offering for residents, for those working in the various businesses, the hospital and for visitors to Croom and to the Town Park,” said Patricia Ryan, CEO of CCDA. ....

The projects received total funding
of €73,674 under the Community Enhancement Programme in 2020, Limerick Fine Gael TD Kieran O’Donnell has said.
Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, and Minister of State with responsibility for Community Development and Charities, Joe O’Brien TD, announced that €7 million was made available to over 3,000 projects nationally through the 2020 Community Enhancement Programme (CEP).
Deputy Kieran O’Donnell said: “The Community Enhancement Programme is designed to support community groups, particularly in disadvantaged areas, through the provision of small capital grants.
“41 projects in Limerick benefitted from the Programme in 2020, with a total of €73,674 granted ....
