Crane’s conservation woodlot at Iona Station has been disposed of by the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority. In 1976, Elgin County were the owners of Crane Conservation and they sold it for $1 to the Lower Thames. Lower Thames decided a few years ago, unbeknown to our family, that they no longer wanted Crane Conservation Area as one of their parks. It appears they were able to dispose of the woodlot under the 40-year statute of limitations, meaning after 40 years they have no legal obligation to the property. They sold the almost eight-acre woodlot for $9,000 in 2019. I have read recently that when Lower Thames now accumulates more property it is done in perpetuity, meaning ongoing forever. T ....
