Queensland community leaders gather to remember Battle of Crete

The presidents and representatives of Greek associations and Greek orthodox parishes as well as representatives of the Greek Consulate General attended the Battle of Crete commemoration service recently at the Greek Orthodox church of St George in Brisbane.
The service was held by the Cretan Association of Queensland in conjunction with he Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia-Brisbane.

In his address at the service, Kostas Kaselakis president of Cretan Association of Queensland recalled the famous battle that began on 20 May, 1941with the descent of thousands of German paratroopers in a surprise attack on the island. ....

Diplomatic sources on FM Dendias' visit to Libya

Commenting on Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias recent visit to Libya, diplomatic sources on Tuesday said its aim was to drive home three key messages: the need to initially avoid any initiatives with respect to the illegal and void Turkish-Libyan memorandum that could make Libya s relations with Greece and the EU more difficult, that the Greek presence is more firmly established via the opening of a Greek Consulate General in Benghazi and Greece s readiness to contribute to Libya s restructuring.
The response of Libyan authorities during Monday s visit was positive to the three messages, the same sources said.
Greece is one of the first if not the first country that will reopen a consulate in Benghazi and the response of the Libyan officials was warm. ....
