HOUGH, HAGEN SPAR AS  FREDERICK COUNTY EXEC RACE HEATS UP: The race for Frederick County executive is only in its early stages but it has already begun to heat up. On Monday, state Sen. Michael Hough (Frederick and Carroll), the only Republican in the race, ripped one of the Democratic candidates as “far-left,” Bryan Renbaum reports in Maryland Reporter.

District 14 lawmakers files for re-election in Annapolis
Sen. Craig Zucker and Delegates Eric Luedtke, Pam Queen and Anne Kaiser have all filed for re-election to their respective seats in Annapolis in 2022.
They all serve District 14, which covers the eastern part of the county, including Damascus, Olney and Burtonsville. 
Zucker has been in the state Senate since 2016, and was a delegate from 2010 to 16.
Luedtke has served as House Majority Leader since 2019, and has been in the House since 2010. Kaiser is chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, and is former House Majority Leader. She was first elected in 2002. ....

County, State Leaders React to Derek Chauvin Guilty Verdict
Montgomery County and state leaders are reacting to the verdict in the trial of former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin, who on Tuesday was found guilty for the murder of George Floyd.
Chauvin was found guilty on all three of his charges: second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. Chauvin was convicted for killing Floyd, a Black man, after holding his knee on Floyd’s neck on May 25, 2020. According to a statement of probable cause filed in a Minnesota District Court, Chauvin held his knee on Floyd’s neck for almost nine minutes, including three minutes after Floyd became unresponsive. Floyd was accused of using a counterfeit $20 bill at a grocery store, which prompted the call to police. Witness footage of the killing sparked international outrage and calls for racial justice. ....
