As we enjoy our few cool weeks of spring, we hit one last cold snap that brought in a good bit of rain … but it has otherwise been a very dry month. The dry warm weather invites the pest and disease problems that we struggle with through our hot Florida summers. One such issue has gotten a lot of attention this year, the tussock moth. Marion and surrounding counties have seen large infestations of them already over the last 2-3 weeks; they have defoliated our oak trees, covered the front of our Extension building, and decimated vegetables at a local organic farm.
