ROTAN, TX A Rotan ISD library aid is now out of a job after she allegedly used a racial slur. According to parent Bridget Williams, last week Vera Gonzales s stepson was at her house. This appeared to have upset Gonzales, Williams, who is African American, alleges the district employee began sending her stepson text messages that were threatening to her. She said she was going to come after me or whatever that means she was going to come to my house, said Williams. Gonzales then called her stepson and Williams heard the conversation. ....

The six-year-old Jailhouse Jesse gelding rode the cover of Shoot The Thrill up the backstretch before driver Greg Merton pointed him three-wide into the final turn. Pacesetter Sweet Royalty (Jimmy Devaux) finished third. Greg Decker trains Cinnamon Stick, who paid $4.10 as the even money favourite, for Michael Mulligan.
