UP: Major Mathura temples ban entry of devotees amid COVID-19 surge
Two major temples of the Sapta Devalaya (cluster of seven temples) in Vrindavan on Saturday banned the entry of devotees in view of the rising COVID-19 cases. Since even priests have been infected in some temples, it has been decided to close the ancient Gokulananda Temple indefinitely for devotees to ensure uninterrupted seva-puja at the shrine, temple mahant Srivatsa Goshwami said.
The Radha Raman temple, he said, would now open for only an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening for devotees, who have to strictly adhere to COVID-19 norms. ....

Few days after the district court of Varanasi has given approval for the survey of Kashi Vishwanath Temple-Gyanvapi Mosque complex by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), a petition has been filed in Mathura court claiming that the idols of the Sri Krishna Janmasthan temple lie buried beneath Jahanara mosque, popularly known as Jama Masjid in Agra.
The PIL filed by advocate Shailendra Singh, who is representing five petitioners from Lucknow, has sought a ground radiology test by ASI at the Jahanara mosque to ascertain if Lord Krishna s idols are buried beneath it, reports ....

SC seeks govt's response on Places of Worship Act validity | India News


NEW DELHI: Sixteen months after deciding the Ayodhya land dispute, the Supreme Court on Friday sought the Centre’s response to a PIL challenging the validity of the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991 which barred courts from entertaining civil suits for changing the character of religious places from what it was at the time of Independence.
A bench of Chief Justice S A Bobde, who was part of the five-judge bench that decided the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi dispute in favour of Hindus on November 9, 2019, and Justice A S Bopanna issued notices to the ministries of home, law and culture on the PIL filed by Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay. ....

Fresh claim on Krishna birthplace


Four persons have jointly moved a petition in a Mathura court on behalf of Bhagwan Keshavdev (Lord Krishna) to claim the Sri Krishna Janmabhumi Trust’s right to the 13.37 acres of land where a temple and a mosque stand, a place identified by Hindutva entities as the birthplace of Lord Krishna.
Two advocates Mahendra Pratap Singh and Rajendra Maheshwari and two Hindutva organisations the United Hindu Front and the Dharm Raksha Sangh claimed in their petition before the court of the senior civil judge on Wednesday.
