[email protected] JOHNSTOWN Two culverts have been delivered to the city for projects due to start in March. City Engineer Christopher Vose relayed details of the projects during his monthly report to the Common Council Monday night at City Hall. Vose said the North Chase Street and South Chase Street culverts have been delivered. He said the city currently intends to start these projects in March, weather dependent. He said the city is still awaiting word on an extension from New York state for the city’s funding for these projects due to COVID-19 pandemic-related delays. Currently, the funding deadline for the culvert projects is April 30, he said. ....
[email protected] JOHNSTOWN The Common Council entered into an on-call contract with an Albany engineering firm in action approved at its organizational meeting Tuesday night at City Hall. The council passed a resolution to execute an agreement with Greenman-Pedersen Inc. to provide on-call engineering services to the office of City Engineer Christopher Vose. The firm will provide the city with general engineering, public works and construction-related services during 2021. Greenman-Pedersen will perform professional services on an hourly basis, with the maximum amount not to exceed $15,000 set by purchase order. Fourth Ward Councilman Max Spritzer asked whether it was the same dollar amount as 2020, and Mayor Vern Jackson said it was. ....
[email protected] JOHNSTOWN Work on the city’s infrastructure like culverts and bridges continues through the COVID-19 pandemic. In his monthly report Tuesday to the Common Council, City Engineer Christopher Vose said the city is expecting delivery this month of North Chase Street and South Chase Street culverts from manufacturer Contech. All permitting with agencies such as the state Department of Environmental Conservation was obtained, and design work by Greenman Pedersen Inc. was finalized on the city’s behalf. “We intend to start these projects in March, weather dependent,” Vose reported. Vose also said he continues to work with Greenman Pedersen engineers on the replacement of the Townsend Avenue Bridge. The project is still on schedule for construction during the 2021 season, he said. ....
